Every couple has that ONE celebrity they are allowed to hook up with if an encounter ever occurs. And of course, as part of the agreement, the said hook-up should yield zero to little negative repercussions from the spouses. For my husband, it’s Ms Scarlet Johanssen. For me, it’s her former husband Ryan Reynolds (hey, it could happen!)
Therefore you should keep the following list of infected celebrities handy just in case you ever get the opportunity to shag one of them.
A word about the list: There are many sites that claim celebrities are infected. I chose the ones that are corroborated by credible sources (they will be linked).
A BeirutBeauty PSA: STDs are a serious issue, especially in the Middle East where fornication is considered taboo and diseases revolving around it are usually left untreated due to shame and fear. If you practice premarital coitus, you should always protect yourself (that goes for BOTH men and women!) Sure, many people say abstaining is the best form of birth control, but that often doesn’t prove to be the case. Let the stories of these famous people be a cautionary tale on the nastiness of sexually transmitted diseases.
Here we go…
- Robin Williams (Comedian): When Robin Williams hooked up with his former waitress girlfriend, Michelle Tish Carter, he didn’t disclose that he had Herpes Simplex. After realizing he transferred the nasty virus on to her, she ended up suing him for around 6 million dollars. The case was settled for an undisclosed amount back in the early 1990’s. Just FYI: There is no cure for Herpes.
- Naomi Judd (Musician): Ms Judd is probably one of most famous female country music singers in America but one of the main hardships she faced, despite her fame and fortune, is her Hepatitis C diagnosis. Her struggle it outlined in her autobiography Naomi's Breakthrough Guide.
- Gene Weingarten (Journalist): You may not have heard of him, but Mr Weingarten is a two-time Pulitzer Prize winner and a world renowned Washington Post journalist. But when he was just a tween, Gene started abusing drugs. And according to this interview, he “gobbled crystal meth at 12, smoked hashish at 13, and was shooting smack at 17”, which is how he contracted Hepatitis C. He claims that if it wasn’t for journalism, he would have been a dead man.

- Natasha Lyonne (Actress): She is best known for her roles in American Pie and Slums of Beverly Hills and was portrayed as the next big thing in Hollywood. But unfortunately, her hard-partying ways left Natasha with Hepatitis C. She spent 5 months in the hospital trying to treat it and other ailments such as “collapsed lung, heart infection, Hepatitis C, and arms covered in track marks”. But thankfully, Ms Lyonne is alive and back on track!
- Anthony Kiedis (Musician): In his book, Scar Tissue, the sexy lead singer of the punk/funk rock band the Red Hot Chilli Peppers outlines his battle with heroin addiction and hepatitis C. Also in the book, a lot about his sex-scapades throughout the years! I highly recommend reading this funny summary of the book.
- Kieth Richards (Musician): According to this article in the San Francisco Chronicles. Keith Richard’s body will be donated to science after his death because “doctors want to examine his immune system”. Even though he claims he has unhealthy eating habits and shoves terrible things inside himself, Mr Richards is pushing 70 and still looks good! Apparently, he cured his own Hepatitis C by simply being one bad-ass rocker!
